Winter in Oz

Some people go skiing in Winter, we go to the beach.

Some of best views in Sydney can be found on the coastal walk from beautiful Bondi beach down South to Coogee Beach. The walk consists of four beaches, neat rock formations and icy surfers along the way. The total distance is approximately 6K and takes about 2 hours. (Side note: Jeff found a lawn bowling club with beer specials along the way, so it took us a bit longer)

We started with a late lunch at Moo Gourmet Burgers to fuel up for our hike. Four thumbs up!

The day was a little on the cool and cloudy side, but it's hard to be disappointed with views like this.

Darling Harbour has quickly become one of our favorite places for a night out in the city. Water Front Grill with their $10 jugs of beer, $4 glasses of wine, and Mexican Nachos has become our normal place for Happy Hour and a great value. (Side note: Any alcoholic drink in a normal restaurant is a minimum of $7, yes even a small 12 ounce beer). The people watching, the food, and the entertainment are spectacular. Vivid Sydney was still going on and Jeff shot this video of the light/fountain display.

6 Weeks Later

Hello!

Well, it's been six weeks since Jeff and I relocated to Australia (insert deep breath here). We've finally been able to settle in and relax a little. We've moved into our apartment, we have furniture, a bank account, private health insurance, plenty of wine and a broken dryer (I don't want to talk about it).

Side note: Next week is the official start of Winter. However, it's hard to call 75 and sunny Winter :)

Recap - Here's the past few months in photos. Enjoy!

1.31.2013 - Jeff burying St. Joseph in the yard for
good luck.

I just can't...

Fun at the Fish Market

4.06.2013 - Our going away party / I drank an entire bottle of wine night

4.11.2013 - Our stuff is moving!

A parting gift from Scott Sayers.
Her name is Juanita and we have matching pants.

April 25 - Anzac Day (equivalent to Memorial Day in the US)

Jeff had the day off work, so we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and take a walk around the city. The view from the bridge is absolutely stunning. I think we both could have stayed up there for hours taking photos.

4.25.2013 - View from the bridge. Not too bad, eh?

May 1 - House Hunting

Jeff and I spent the day with our relocation expert, Joana, checking our apartments around the City. I'll just say, you definitely get what you pay for with housing in this county. We got extremely lucky and fell in love with the first place we saw located in the suburb of Wollstonecraft, NSW. It's about a 10 minute train ride for Jeff into work in North Sydney. I've included a few photos from our second choice apartment only because the views were SPECTACULAR. And yes, all caps is necessary.

And finally, here are a few pictures from the past few days. I'll take some pictures of our apartment when we get our new dryer so everyone doesn't see our underwear drying on the kitchen table. We Crones keep it classy.

Jeff took this photo on his way into work. The news said visibility was
down to .2K

Sushi on a train. Yes, please!

Yes, this is a sale. Ouch.

We went out to dinner in Darling Harbour on Sunday and caught a
few of the Vivid Light Festival shows.
